BIG Concerts is South Africa's premier concert promoter with over eighteen years experience on more than a thousand shows, including Robbie Williams, U2 and Michael Jackson. We were recently:
- Included in the Pollstar list of the World's Top 100 Promoters at No. 21. No other African promoter features in the Top 100.
- Voted the People's Choice as South Africa's top event company (The Star 2006).
Big Concerts was formed by Attie van Wyk in 1989 and after three years of staging major local concerts, Attie promoted Paul Simon who was the first major international act to tour South Africa after a long period of significant cultural isolation. In the eighteen years that BIG Concerts has promoted music in South Africa, the company has grown from one to twenty full time employees and today almost every significant international tour promoted in South Africa sees BIG Concerts involved in some capacity.
Big Concerts consists of 8 departments:
- Tour Management
- Marketing, Advertising and PR
- Sponsorships & Corporate Sales
- Contracts / Legal / Financial Affairs
- Production & Technical
- Concessions / Merchandising
- Talent acquisition
- Inventory & Itinerary Management
The staff profile of BIG Concerts celebrates South Africa's diversity. 71% of all employees are women, and half are from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. In addition to our permanent team of professionals, BIG Concerts utilise the services of South Africa's best production and operational suppliers to ensure the success of each and every event we promote. We endeavour to use suppliers with a solid history of quality workmanship and where possible businesses that encourage black economic empowerment and the development of staff from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.
